Our Learning Framework: Sustainability
At Peak Sports and Learning, we believe sustainability is more than just a program, it’s a mindset and a responsibility we proudly pass on to the next generation. We embed sustainable practices into our daily routines, educational activities, and operations to help children develop a lifelong respect for the environment and understand their role in protecting it.
Our approach is guided by the My Time, Our Place framework and ACECQA’s principles of sustainability. We use nature as a teacher, encouraging curiosity, care, and creativity as children explore how their actions can positively impact the world around them.
How We Embed Sustainability
Children at Peak are empowered to take part in real-world, hands-on experiences that promote environmental responsibility, including:
- Gardening where children grow herbs, vegetables, and flowers
- Worm farming and composting, using food scraps from our programs
- Caring for centre pets, like our fishy friends, through shared responsibility
- Recycling programs, including scrap paper reuse and craft with recycled materials
- Energy-saving practices, such as turning off lights and regulating heating/cooling
- Loose parts play, encouraging reuse and creative construction
- Sustainable fundraising initiatives that support environmental goals
These experiences help children learn important life skills such as responsibility, cooperation, and problem-solving, all while forming meaningful connections with the natural world.
